August 23, 2012 — An arrest in the Amanda Lankey case
When Cecil Wallis, Sr., the leading suspect in the Amanda Lankey abduction and murder case of 2004, committed suicide November of 2011 rather than face the prospect of prison time if he were found guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct changes lodged against him, investigators vowed that they would continue the investigation. Â It might make it more difficult, but they promised to keep on with the investigation.
They have kept their promise.
WOOD TV, Channel 8, related the story of the arrest of Wallis’ sister, Candace Baumgartner, Wednesday morning. Â She is charged with two counts of felony perjury. Â There have been rumors out there for years that she had something to do with a coverup. Â She was a part-time White Cloud police officer, even accompanying other investigators to the home of Lankey’s mother to notify her of the discovery of her daughter’s body.
Maybe Baumgartner will tell what she knows.
Here’s a late update. And here’s a story about about another pending arrest, one for Candace Baumgartner’s son, Marcus Wallis.
